Mrs. Stephens is a teacher whose impact reaches far beyond academics. Her dedication to her students is evident not only in the way she teaches math, but in the way she cares for the whole child. She consistently goes above and beyond to ensure her students’ basic needs are met, including being attentive to food insecurity and other challenges that may affect their ability to learn.
Mrs. Stephens works intentionally to build and maintain meaningful connections with every student in her classroom. She has an especially strong heart for students who may not have consistent support at home, and she strives to be a trusted, encouraging presence for them. Through her compassion and high expectations, she empowers students to believe in themselves and work to their fullest potential because they know they are genuinely cared for.

She thoughtfully offers a variety of seating options and learning approaches to meet the diverse needs of her students, ensuring that each child has the opportunity to learn in a way that works best for them. Staff, families, and students look forward to interacting with her daily for professional guidance. Her counseling classes instill essential life and leadership skills—Icky, Sticky Hands being one of the students’ favorite lessons.
She is revered by all who know her and respected for the many hats she wears, all with such grace. She has supported everyone at Central and gone beyond the school walls by opening her home as a Christmas host. This lifted our spirits, and her hard work is truly appreciated and valued.
